This is known as the Monk Parakeet. An introduced resident from southeastern America and not so common here. The rooster and the hen fought back when the chick was captured but were unsuccessful in saving their little one. On one hand, I pitied the chickens as it’s such a sad scene for the adults to be so helpless in such a situation. On the other hand, the Crested Goshawk has to survive by eating his prey and this is a nature routine that is happening almost every second. In this situation, I sympathise the chickens but I can’t blame the Goshawk for being so cruel too.
