2015: The jouney started! It was the first time Billy went on a volleyball court. He was fortunate to be picked for the MVVC 13-Red Team, and started to spike the ball after just a few weeks of practicing... His good friend Dylan joined the same team... Coach Phil treated the team to some smoothies, as promised, after the team beat Team Rockstar in the quarter-final of their first Jr. National. Winning the Bronze Medal. Coach Phil and Coach John gave out two hats for the two most special players on the team, Brandon and Billy. Dallas is nice - a movie theatre that also serves food... Team Party, the first of many to come! 2016: New year, new season, MVVC 14-Red is ready to go! Got a new jump serve. Winning the bid to the Jr. National. Some Red envelopes for good luck. Doing baseball and volleyball together stressed out the elbow. At Columbus Jr. National, the team played six matches in one day, and Billy played every point. Got severe cramps due to dehydration, and called ambulance to go to the hospital. What a scare! Fortunately after a couple of hours of IV, he is feeling much better now... Back together with the team. The team fought hard without Billy, and got 10th place. Party time again. Some words from the coach first, followed by the classic kids vs. parents match. 2017: The net is higher, and 15-Red team got on the Championship court at Jr. National. It was a winding road to get there... Billy's elbow injury continued to bother him at the beginning of the season. He had to sit out a number of power league tournament, and the team was struggling... Finally, after a few frustrating months, he is back on the court. And team really got into the grooves, and beat archrival Bay2Bay and won the Far Western tournament. Grandma was there to witness it. The team was on a roll, and won the Winter Invitational Tournament in Chicago, out of 44 teams! The team entered the Jr. National as 2nd seed, and kept that good seeding till the last match of the 2nd round pool. They had a tough loss to San Juan, and got a tough opponent with the 1st seed 949 in the quarter-final. That took place on the Championship court, and the team again suffered a close 1-2 loss, and finished 5th place, just missing the medal. Billy was selected for the all-tournament team. The best of the tournament. Team, and Family. Walking in the hot Phoenix sun Disney time again... Billy was also selected to join the High Performance A1 program, and had an intensive and fun time at Tulsa. And made some new friends... Grandparents got to visit Tulsa too. 2018: 16-Red got some good enforcement in Koby, Reece and Dom, and are ready for the new season. The team had some ups and downs in the regular season, and made to the Jr. National as the 28th seed. The team fought hard, and never quited, and gradually improved its seeding every day in the tournament. The team played out of their mind to beat a very strong Sport Performance team, and then took a sweet revenge against Torri (whose core starters were from the San Juan team which upseted us last year) in the quarter-final. The team got to taste a medal again. Dallas is indeed a lucky place for the team! Billy was again selected for the all-tournament team, this time together with his good friend Dylan! Billy was again selected to join the High Performance A1 Training, this time in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. 2019: To welcome the new members of the 17-Red team, Brian and Daniel, we added a season-openning party. That was a great idea! The team were playing away happily, without an idea that COVID will arrive and change everything... Hallaween special. Billy was invited to join the prestigious Winter Holiday Training Camp in San Diego. Only the top players in the country are invited. The under-manned team overcame bad weather and tough travel and secured a bid to the Jr. National! And then COVID hits. The last happy get-together of the season before hte world was put on a hold. 2020 - skip; 2021: We are back, with a vengence, at least in our appetite. And we got a coach in Ken Shibuya, as Coach Jonah got a new baby and went on paternity leave. It was emotional tournament. The team went through a lot, and are still having fun playing! Out starting setter Dylan had an injury and could not play. The team ended 19th place among 36 teams. With Dylan With Dylan, Brandon, Travis and Jason, buddies and teammates for six years.
